Yes. To assure safe and efficient operation of your HVAC or Boiler system, annual inspection and cleaning is very important, and greatly reduces the likelihood of failure; when least expected. We recommend bi-annual visits if you have cooling to both furnace and A/C, that way they can be prepared for the season they are serving.
The manufacturer, type of equipment (ie: high efficiency vs. basic efficiency) and the maintenance/service the unit has seen over the years, all play a big factor in its expected life. However, we would recommend considering replacement of your furnace and A/C every 20 years, water heater every 10 years and your boiler every 25 to 30 years depending on cast iron, copper, stainless steel heat exchanger, hot water or steam, etc.
Most digital stats do have batteries and weak or dead batteries can effect the operation of the HVAC equipment. We recommend annual replacement at the same time as your smoke and C.O. detector batteries.
